With winter and the ski season in full swing, we take a look at what Eastern Canada has to offer. Meetings and incentives take on a European flair when Québec City is on the agenda. The birthplace of French civilization in North America, this UNESCO world heritage city is steeped in history and culture and it is, in fact, the only walled city in North America whose fortifications are still intact.
Considered a top culinary destination Québec City really does stand out for the variety of restaurants, quality of local products and creative talent of its chefs from Laurie Raphael to Jean-Luc Boulay at Le Saint-Amour to name just a couple.
Combined with offering great value, the city is renowned for being affordable and cost-effective. All in all the region has all the advantages and amenities of a big city, set against a spectacular natural backdrop.
Whether it be culture or activities, sea, land or water, the state of Quebec has a lot to offer for all 4 seasons and the opening of Club Med’s Le Massif de Charlevoix an all-inclusive resort located just 60-90 minutes from Quebec’s airport between the sea and mountains provides a new destination.
Le Massif de Charlevoix
A ski area in Quebec with stunning waterfront views directly overlooking the St Lawrence River. It has a vertical drop of 770m which is the highest in Eastern Canada and east of the Rockies. The ski area boasts 52 pistes, there are runs to suit all abilities with 15% easy runs, 30% intermediate, 20% difficult and 35% very difficult. The resort has a high annual snowfall of 645 cm and snowmaking on 70% of the terrain. If you don’t ski there are sledges, snowmobile tours, husky rides, relaxing in the spa, learning new menus and of course après ski.
In summer, the glades spread over 307 acres and into the countryside with tracks for mountain biking, hiking and riding. The shoreline offers kayaking and whale watching trips. Other activities include golf, nature tours, ice wine tasting and visits to the beautiful Quebec City.
